Al Bustan, an old colonial hotel where many international celebrities got away from it all in Tangiers, was the place where the dreams and desires were cast for those who were captivated by the city, like the old proprietor of the hotel and the writer Jane Bowles, the narrator of this story, who decides to abandon everything to install herself on the other side of the Straights of Gibraltar.
